Master Life Coach - Paul Strobl
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Paul Strobl, Master Life Coach, based in Houston, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a personal life coach for professionals, entrepreneurs, and executives who look successful on the outside but don't feel successful from within. My clients are typically GenX and GenY, with creative & sales backgrounds, and life seems a bit gray--it's lost its color. They are procrastinating on what they know they should be doing.
Tell us about yourself
In 2005, I was overweight and working in a corporate job--not very happy with my life. A phone call one morning changed everything -- my brother had taken his own life. After a couple of years of asking myself new questions and finding new tools, it became obvious I was an entrepreneur and a coach, and I launched my practice. My passion in life is to help people to see. I know that when people change for the better and live more in line with who they are, it positively affects the people and company culture around them.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Walking my own path and living the lifestyle that I espouse to my clients that they can have. Not financially, but being present for what matters. I'm not perfect, but I consistently improve over time to get more of what I want and less of what I don't by making small changes and tracking my progress.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Finding the balance. Deciding when good enough is good enough and calling it a day.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get specific - focus on what you do and who you help and understand them inside and out so you can communicate with them. Great messaging requires great empathy.
- Ask for help - you don't have to do it all alone. If you find yourself putting off tasks that are unpleasant, there's someone who loves doing that. Find them, hire them.
- Avoid distractions like social media or binge-watching Netflix. Use technology as the amazing tool that it is, not as a way to numb out or replace your social life.
