Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Paul Canetti, a product designer, turned CEO, turned marketing professor based in New York, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I create online courses for business types that want to get techier.

Tell us about yourself

I've built multiple startups and have been a business professor at Columbia Business School for many years. I love helping people get more comfortable with products and technology. It can seem intimidating at first, but pretty soon, it's not!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Publishing my first home-grown course called "web3 for Business" - unlike other courses that were in partnership with universities or other providers, this is the first course I developed entirely on my own.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It's lonely! Even once you have a team, being an owner and CEO is quite isolating. It's essential to have trusted peers and mentors in your life that understand what that feels like.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start—stop reorganizing your to-do list and do one thing right now.
  2. Start talking about it as if it's real—when people ask what you do on your LinkedIn, etc. Say it first, do it second.
  3. Remember, everyone else you admire started where you are right now. If they can do it, you can too!
