Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Patricia Leach, founder of Makaria Services, located in Wilmington, DE, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an End of Life Coach and Death Doula. I help people and their families navigate the myriad of paperwork and healthcare choices they are faced with towards the end of life.
Tell us about yourself
I decided to become an End of Life coach when my mother was placed on in-home hospice. Everything about her healthcare changed daily, and it brought the discussions of final wishes to the forefront. Since her passing, I have been with two other people during their final days. I have found helping the family with the final details when a loved one is approaching death rewarding and gratifying.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Taking a small idea and finding resources to help grow my passion and business.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Specifically for my career path, helping people feel comfortable with discussing death and final wishes.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find something you are passionate about. This will help you maintain momentum when you are growing your business.
- Talk to everyone you know about your new business. You never know where new ideas, inspirations, and, dare I say, clients will come from.
