Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Patricia Heitz, Founder of Patricia Heitz Consulting, located in Delmar, NY, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My official business name is Patricia Heitz Consulting, as I help/work with individuals to help them discover, explore, and reset their negative, self-limiting belief systems, as well as workplace leadership programs for leaders in companies to help them reset their beliefs, so they may help their staff reset their beliefs for the ultimate in productivity and uplifting work culture. Readers will want to support my business, as my book, classes, seminars, and retreats all help people transform their lives by discovering what they have believed in the past that has created a roadblock for them. Since most people are not aware of how their sub-conscious negative beliefs keep them away from what they want to have/be in their lives, this system helps them become aware and can now choose a belief system that reflects their core authenticity and allows them to highlight their gifts and natural talents to create a life they love to wake up to each day!.
Tell us about yourself
My business started from my experience with surviving kidney cancer back in 2002 (celebrating 20 years this month of great health). After that experience, I had to know everything about how the mind and body work together for our benefit or detriment depending on what we think about who we are, what our value in the world is, and what we think we deserve to be/have. I discovered I had a deeply buried self-sabotage belief system. A belief that I was not enough and didn't deserve anything. After reading every mind-body book and audio for over 16 years, I realized how much my life had changed for the better as I took all the information I had learned and applied it to my life. I found myself living in more joy, more authenticity (instead of worrying about what others thought of me and behaved as I thought they would approve of), more abundance, and more love than I could have ever dreamed of. I decided I wanted to share with others what I had learned so they, too, could create a dream come true life. In 2018 I finished and published my book: "Daydreams Come True," a self-coaching manual that is a workbook. This workbook asks very in-depth questions that takes the reader from what they think is true about what they believe to discovering who they really are, what their gifts are, and how to live their lives utilizing their gifts and natural talents, as well as finding more joy and love and abundance in their lives.
After my book was published, I started using it as a 6 session workshop (since there are 6 chapters in the book) either for individuals or groups. I have also incorporated the most important questions in the book into a retreat...
What motivates me every day is the idea of others finding the joy, abundance, and love I have in my life by allowing themselves to let go of old beliefs that are not true and embracing the real truth and gift of who they are.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The many people who have been able to change their lives for the better after completing the program and book. It gives me great joy and fulfillment to watch them living a happier life.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
All the details...marketing, tech set up, etc. I would much rather be doing my consulting!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If possible, find people to help you do the things you are not good at (it's okay not to be good at certain things!) or that you really do not enjoy doing so you can focus on what you are really good at.
- To believe 100% in what you are doing and why you are doing it? Make sure it lights you up, gives your life purpose, and is worth persevering even when it looks like things are going sideways.
- Keep an open mind and be flexible. Sometimes what you have envisioned is not how opportunities present themselves. You may have a fixed idea in your head about your business. Then another opportunity is presented to you that still allows you to practice your passion, but it is with another merging business, with a partner, or some other opportunity that pops up. Pay attention to what is being presented to you and try that opportunity in your vision to see if it could be better.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Starting a business is hard. That's the first notion to own. This is why it's so important to be so passionate about what you do, so when speed bumps pop up, you don't get sidelined. Do a gut/intuition check to make sure this serves your purpose and is not just a money-making idea. Sometimes the money-making ideas work, but most businesses rise and fall from the passion or lack of passion from the owner.
