Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Patricia Clason, Founder of Patricia Clason, LLC, located in Milwaukee, WI, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Emotional Intelligence is my specialty; truthfully, almost everyone is a potential customer as we can all do better at relationships with ourselves, friends, family, and business associates. I have been speaking, training, writing, and sharing my experience of personal growth and development for forty years, and I never get tired of watching people grow and prosper. If someone wants a better life and is willing to do the work to build that life, I'm in to help - as a coach, trainer, consultant, and author. I'll share what I know so their life and the world will be a better place.
Tell us about yourself
My journey started with a deep desire to create a good life emotionally, physically, spiritually, and financially. I started with martial arts - Tai Chi - and then seminars on personal growth. I've been a sponge for learning, developing skills, and then sharing what I've learned so others can find their path to their best life. Seeing people grow, find joy, health, relationships, and all things good is so very rewarding. I believe that when we succeed, we have a moral obligation to share the rewards and help others. So it is satisfying on many levels to have the opportunity to share my lived experiences to inspire and guide others.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Forty years of doing what I love and putting it into an online program - Successful Living Basic Training so that anyone, anywhere, can lay the foundation of a successful life and then build the life they want to live - is my biggest accomplishment. The concepts are timeless, so the program is my legacy.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Balancing working in the business and on the business. It is so easy to get lost in the details, from accounting to delivering workshops, that I sometimes don't spend enough time on marketing, promotion, and development.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Develop the discipline early on to work on both long-term and short-term goals so you are always growing. Focus all that you do around your purpose so you don't get lost in "great ideas" that might really be great; however, not on purpose for you. Balance working in the business with working on the business as well as scalability so you can grow the business or sell the business when it is beyond what you want to be doing in your life.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Doing what I love doing has allowed me to feel like I am on a permanent vacation, and then the get-away opportunities are really special vacations. Can't get much better than that!!
