Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tiffany Weigand, Co-Founder of Partner2Learn, located in Mukwonago, WI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a leadership development organization helping individuals understand their value and how to increase team engagement for maximum results. We primarily work with organizations and teams, but some individuals seek out personal development as well. We find that most of our clients are schools, churches, and nonprofits. However, we serve municipalities, police and fire departments, transportation services, senior living communities, manufacturers, construction companies, hospitality organizations, financial services, golf clubs, HR/recruiters, and more.

Tell us about yourself

I spent over 15 years in marketing and was hired to work with an organization that helped me in my youth. I was so excited to give back to the organization. However, many of the leaders wouldn't even participate in the process, and those that did said that was just how the team was...divided. At that time, I realized that marketing was not solving the root issue, and I knew I had to switch my focus. Shortly after, I partnered with a few others to create an organization with a StrengthsFirst mindset. I love working with individuals and teams to help them understand their true potential, their value, and how they best operate....including partnering up with others who may butt heads with them but are likely the ideal complement.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We created our company in 2019. The biggest accomplishment for our organization has been overcoming 2020 and seeing significant growth, with over 90% of our clients being repeat clients. When people see the value, they stay....and they tell others. We're grateful that we can positively impact the lives of our clients and partners.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Scaling the business is a challenge. You hate telling clients that you can't serve them yet because your calendar is booked. You want to grow your team to meet the demand, but you want to be cautious that you truly do have the consistent demand. We just hired our first few team members and are excited to continue to serve more individuals and teams.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be vulnerable. You don't know everything, and there is nothing wrong with asking for help. People are more willing to help you than you think.
  2. Create a StrengthsFirst mindset. Reflect and identify what you are really good at and what brings you joy. If an aspect of the business is frustrating and consistently drains you, find someone to partner up with.
  3. Understand that you will never have 100% certainty. It's ok to be wrong....just learn from your mistakes.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Shift your perspective. Stop saying, "I have to...." and change your language and mindset to "I get to...." Give this a try just for a day, and let me know how it impacts your day.
