Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Wendy Parr, Founder of Parr Method Inc., located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a holistic Artist Coach working with professional singers and recording artists to elevate their careers and authentic brand. The Artist's Circle is a community for creatives of all disciplines. A support + networking group for pro artists. Singers, producers, songwriters, creative directors -- this is where connection, wisdom, support, and new teams are made.

I work directly with artists, labels, and management. My job makes the rest of the team's job easier! When the artist is clear about their vision and has the language to communicate it - OH! that's fire. Everyone has greater clarity, and sharing that vision with the world hits harder. Authenticity resonates. The Parr Method online courses are available to creatives on every level.

Tell us about yourself

I started working as an artist - singer, and actor when I was 8. I've always loved music and writing... all my experiences in this industry led me to be the holistic coach I am today. Helping others navigate their careers, avoid the pitfalls - connect good people with one another. I love music, people, and good times -- so making that happen for others is awesome.

I think this world could be a utopia; everything I do is to make it a bit better for all the people in my world. My online courses empower artists to feel supported to trust themselves, be themselves, and go for their creative vision. I want the world to be an amazing place for risk-taking, vulnerability, and sharing. Art is a powerful place for change to take place. I love helping artists believe in themselves, which inspires others to believe in themselves ... making a better world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Launching new programs, learning new software, and running a team - these are all new endeavors in my start-up, and they are both wildly challenging, infuriating, and points of pride. There are so many learning curves when there are so many new aspects.

I can share my insights + creativity for ages - I'm solid at that... now market it, get it BtoB, and let the world find out about it all while having a back-end process that needs to be kept up and automation built... it's a lot. Proud it's happening + we're getting incredible feedback on the programs.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Having a start-up - 5 new software platforms to use both behind the scenes and forward facing -- it's such an undertaking to get the systems running. DOING things, creating ideas I love - getting the processes for those projects to have a system to run smoothly, a process to not lose things in the cracks -- that's been a big challenge.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get a tech partner. Haha!!
  2. Believe in what you're creating. Your passion and big goal -- if it serves others will be the motivational fuel that gets you through the challenges, and the victories are sweeter knowing you got over the hurdles and what you're offering is of great value to others
  3. Find a diverse team - it enriches both your life and business and brings a great breadth of ideas and understanding to you and understanding your audience.
