What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own a bakery; to be more specific, a Mexican bakery, we bake everything from scratch. Many recipes came from my grandparents (grandparents passed to the heavens ) and my father, which they are/were all bakers self-taught my customers can be anyone that’s the beautiful part of this business is it’s affordable, it’s not luxurious, or anything like that may scare some people away everything is handcrafted and use artesian methods of baking which makes ours breads special.
Tell us about yourself
Well, my father immigrated in the early 80s to the USA. He had always worked at bakeries since that’s what his parents taught him how to do (my father has very little education. My grandpa and grandma couldn’t afford schooling for my father), so I grew up with my dad talking about how my grandparents had a bakery in Mexico. I saw how hard my dad would work for other companies, so fast forward when I turned 21 years old after going to college for two years, I decided to drop out and took all my savings from working at bakeries in high school and my security job at the time and invested on buying equipment for the bakery and in 2009 Panaderia Puebla was born the name is from my father’s home state in Mexico Puebla my motivation is my dad he loves this country so much that he took the risk coming here with no family no friends and not knowing the language or culture and that inspires me and makes me brave not to be afraid of the unknown.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Self-growth understanding myself to be able to trust my abilities and to be open to accepting to learn every single day.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Balance of personal business life being a father and husband you value time more than money it’s difficult to understand because the school doesn’t teach any of that, unfortunately.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be patient, be understanding, be ready to be alone.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
We fail to learn life without learning is worthless, so it’s ok to fail.
