Integrative Virtual Mental Health - Pamela Tremblay

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Pamela Tremblay, CEO of Integrative Virtual Mental Health, located in Newnan, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

An important aspect of the Integrative Mental Health Approach is to understand and process how past traumas have influenced your belief systems which can cause problems in your follow-through, self-care, relationships, job satisfaction, and spirituality. Traumas like deaths, divorces, illnesses, breakups, bullying, job loss, financial stress as well as sexual, verbal, and physical abuse all contribute to how you view life. These experiences can cause negative/limited beliefs trapping you in patterns that continually repeat themselves, making you feel anxious, not good enough, and sometimes hopeless.

The Integrative Virtual Mental Health (IVMH) Approach looks at habits such as sleep, hydration, movement, and nutrition, which influence brain health and helps you to regulate your moods and focus your mind. Research shows when these habits improve, it reduces anxiety and depression symptoms. Our sessions are done virtually through a computer or cellphone, making your experience convenient and more affordable. Our clients are Georgia residents who are struggling with anxiety, anger, and stress management.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a board-certified licensed professional counselor for over 20 years. I have my master's and specialist degrees in Counseling and Educational Psychology and my doctorate degree in health and nutrition. It was covid-19 that actually got me started doing virtual counseling. I was not sure if I would like it as a practitioner and if my clients would get the same results as in-person counseling. I was pleasantly surprised that I found my clients did get the same results, if not better, since participating in counseling was more convenient for them, and they would show up more consistently since the time invested was shortened by taking out the commute. I love my job, so I find my motivation comes from feeling good after doing good by helping my clients make changes for the better.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is my success as an entrepreneur. I turned a part-time gig into a full-time business allowing me to leave my full-time job. I now have much more flexibility for myself and my family, which gives me more balance in my personal life. This is very important to me as I feel people in the helping field need to practice what they preach.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing as a business owner is all the different aspects you need to have knowledge of, so the learning curve can be steep. Things like accounting, scheduling, billing insurance, and website knowledge, so make sure you take the time to learn those before launching or budget money for people to do those things for you.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be specific with your target market. Offer a different solution to a problem to help yourself stand out from the crowd. Budget at least six months' worth of needed income.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Work on your personal beliefs that create fear and can stop you from living your dreams and starting the business you have always wanted. Many beliefs stem from our childhood, and once they have been processed or redirected, they can create the confidence you need to move forward.
