Excellent and Innovative Artist Management - P1M

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nanci Vennettilli, co-founder of P1M Corp, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a management company for artists and influencers. We support our artists and talents from the initial pitch stage, managing the expectations of the projects through to the negotiation of contracts and everything in between. We are the bridge connecting both sides.

Our customers range from local and international brands that call us for creative direction, styling/H+M services, and online content creation to individuals that need hair & makeup and styling services for personal functions. Our artists and influencers work on sets and provide content for social media.

Tell us about yourself

I graduated with a BA in Fashion Design. While navigating the world of fashion and all the areas within it, I bumped into a friend from school who was juggling several styling projects and needed help. Once I started assisting her, this whole world of 'behind the scenes' action opened up to me, and I knew I would somehow be a part of it. From there, I started assisting more people and eventually began managing artists.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My business partner, Diana Carrelli, and I saw a need for a different kind of management. We started talking about creating a small boutique agency that could represent the creme of the crop. With our determination and work ethic, we made a company that, 12 years later, is still progressing, adapting, and succeeding in this ever-changing landscape.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Wanting to do everything for everyone and juggling the needs of many. I knew it would be a hard road, but when you have an office staff and a roster of artists, it can be quickly overwhelming to meet the needs of everyone.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My advice would be to just do it, don't beat yourself up if things don't happen quickly, and keep remembering that it's not supposed to be smooth sailing. The bumps in the road will serve as your education, and eventually, you'll have an unofficial MBA in business ownership.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Adaptability to all circumstances has been one of my greatest assets. Especially in the last 2-3 years with COVID. Nothing should ever be set in stone, and be open to hearing and learning as much as you can.
