We're Owl & Key. A lifestyle design company with a mission to help everyone be holistically well in their work and their life 💫 We have the opportunity to work and partner with individuals, couples & partners, as well as corporate clients to help install well-being practices into their everyday lives.
Tell us about yourself
In 2017, Krista and I set out to design a life around what mattered most to us. Our time, energy, and presence with one another and our growing family.
At the time, we were welcoming their first son into the world while simultaneously exiting another successful business partnership to start Owl & Key. Leaving large comfortable salaries, benefits, and equity in the millions, to pursue a new form of wealth. And further, leaving behind what we knew about ourselves in order to begin living the life we desired together. What started as a design agency has evolved over the years into a lifestyle design company, rooted in our own deep self-awareness journey and proprietary lifestyle strategic planning frameworks.
Today, we have had the wonderful opportunity to have guided hundreds of individuals, groups, and businesses through the transformative process of Strategic Planning for Life, introducing intention and meaning into every single one of our client's achievements. There are stories of helping entrepreneurs start and expand conscious businesses, corporate executives choose values-based promotions, professional athletes making the transition from sport to life, teams sparking a more connected and aware culture, and couples reaching new levels of connectivity they didn't think was possible. We continue our mission to spark as many "unlocks" as possible for those who desire a life more aligned with who they truly are. What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Personally, finding harmony between work and life. Too often, people are swallowed up by their roles in the world. We have chosen and found a path that works for us, fully integrating life around the elements of our lifestyle that matter most. That would be our family, presence with our children, connected and aligned relationships, a healthy lifestyle, and meaningful work that positively impacts people. It's possible. And we are living that truth each day!
Professionally, building a meaningful product that creates a positive impact and ripples through people's lives. Further, partnering with companies like Mattel, who have provided a meaningful platform for us to reach more people with this work.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Releasing the expectation of time. And remembering that the answers to all of our next steps and what's to come only lie in the present moment. In how we feel. This a lesson we constantly come back to frequently as we consciously build not only our business but also our life together.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do deep self-work. Become aware of yourself. Then create.
- Harmonize yourself with others and build meaningful relationships.
- Define your version of success before attaching yourself to someone else's.
