Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in floristry but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sharon Mintz, owner of Organic Elements, located in San Diego, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My name is Sharon, and I own Organic Elements. We are a full-service wedding and event florist in San Diego, California. We provide custom-crafted wedding florals and event decor.

Tell us about yourself

I began my floral journey at 18 at a top Beverly Hills studio freelanced for nearly a decade at other amazing design studios before starting Organic Elements in 2005.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment as a company, me as an owner? Simple. One economic downturn, one stock market crash, and one global pandemic... we're still here.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a small business owner is that you will never have another real day off in your life. There are days you will not come into work, there are days you'll be on an amazing vacation with your family, but you will never be able to flip an "off switch." You will always be needed in some way; you will always be solving a work problem in the back of your mind.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be consistent. Deliver on what you promise. Make it easy for your referral base to work with you.
