Our "Protein for the planet" is the healthiest protein on the market, not only for humans but for the earth's food systems in tandem.

Families have a strong connection to our brand, as we are looking out for future generations' health and a healthy planet they are looking to inherit.

Tell us about yourself

I am a wilderness river guide and educator, I have a masters in the science of nutrition, and I am a mother. I am also the CEO and founder of Orchestra Provisions. I learned about the incredible nutritional value of insect protein while obtaining my master's degree; I was researching iron deficiency anemia and found that insects are a rich source of heme iron, and many cultures have been able to avoid iron deficiency anemia by consuming this valuable protein source. Iron deficiency anemia is a number one public health concern globally. This interested me to do a lot of research, where I found the UN and FAO report of 2013, advocating insect protein to address our global food supply problems and food system health concerns. This was when I decided I wanted to confront aversion and offer approachable and familiar products that make a huge impact. Each day, I am motivated to work for my business because I like being a part of the positive evolution of humankind. The two biggest problems we are faced with today are our booming population and our environment. Since planned families seem to be a hard topic to discuss socially, I figure the next step is tackling our food systems, which are the number one contributor to global warming and the environmental demise of our food systems. We have a lot of mouths we need to feed and limited resources to do so! Orchestra Provisions looks to feed the world nutritious foods that are gentle on the earth's natural systems.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building a small food business as a single mother in the midst of COVID, amongst corporately funded large food businesses that have unlimited resources.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Waking up with a million things to do and going to bed with a million things to do. Just when you think you have gotten through your to-do list, another one appears!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Reverse engineer your five-year plan- and work toward your daily goals to make it come true.
  2. All roadblocks have alternative routes if you are dedicated to your five-year plan- that's where the pivot was born.
  3. Be kind. It is what the world needs, but it also helps your business network to support you the best it can- we can't do anything that means anything alone!
