What's your business, and who are your customers?
Opulence Candle Co. is a candle company founded in 2021. Opulence makes candles for the mind, body, and spirit. Our customers come from all over the world. Our candles are handmade and made with high-quality brand wax and fragrances as well as durable wicks. We aim for quality and satisfaction in our products.
Tell us about yourself
I’m a busy mother of 2, currently working on a doctorate as well as running my business. I’ve always been a candle lover, and having my own candle business has been a dream of mine for a while. I told myself after leaving a local candle store that I would make my dreams into reality, so I started researching everything about starting up a business; I put together a business plan, got all my legal resources squared away, and here I am now! What motivates me each day to do what I do is simply just having a passion for making candles and seeing how my customers enjoy my products.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is becoming an entrepreneur and growing my business. I knew I could make it work by starting up my business but didn’t realize that it would grow as it has with my customers and products. I really appreciate and give much respect to my repeat customers and the referrals for Opulence.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is dealing with unknowns because every day, you have challenges to face. Being a business owner is never predictable.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Go for it! Don’t hesitate! Make a plan!
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
- Recognize your strength and weaknesses and continue to work on both!
