What's your business, and who are your customers?

Opal Pets makes clean, vegan nutrition products for dogs. Our customers are pet parents who care deeply about what they're feeding their dogs and want to prioritize feeding them more fresh, plant-powdered foods.

Tell us about yourself

I've been working in the pet food space for over a decade. I started Opal Pets in 2021 after seeing the opportunity to improve on and expand vegan nutrition offerings for our companion animals. As a vegan of 10+ years, I'm motivated every day by helping dogs and saving animals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm proud to be on the cover of Petfood Industry Magazine's June issue in 2018. I'm also proud of having my son in December of '22, all while starting up Opal!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Staying on top of all of the latest changes in digital advertising and marketing/making sure your assets and marketing are relevant and fresh

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make lists in a project management tool like Asana.
  2. Join groups online or in-person to connect with other business owners.
  3. Be vulnerable / ask for help and advice when you need it!
