Expert Support, Clear Communication - Onramp Data
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Emmett Armstrong, Owner of Onramp Data, located in Medford, OR, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hello! I run a company called OnRamp Data. My customers are SaaS companies and marketing agencies who need Webflow services.
Tell us about yourself
I began using Webflow in 2019 and immediately fell in love with its visually appealing design tools. As someone who enjoys coding, Webflow just seemed to fit my style, and I enjoy the opportunity to be creative while facing challenges. My business's goal is to handle the boring stuff and allow my customers to focus on what they do best.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
One of my proudest achievements as a business owner was being selected as a Webflow Expert. The Experts program is highly esteemed, and I am incredibly grateful to be part of this elite group of professionals.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a business owner, one of the most challenging aspects is the pressure that comes with responsibility. As the owner, the success or failure of the business falls on my shoulders. I am responsible for managing every aspect of the business, from marketing and sales to finance, operations, and production. While it is comforting to be part of a supportive community, ultimately, no one will care about my business as much as I do.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
As someone with experience starting, running and growing a business, I have a few tips to share with those seeking to do the same in today's climate.
- Follow your passions and interests. If the design is something that comes naturally to you, make an effort to build up your portfolio and seek out more design-related work.
- Prioritize a few key areas. It can be tempting to pursue every opportunity that comes your way, but this can ultimately dilute your brand and drain your energy. Focus on a select few areas to avoid spreading yourself too thin.
- Use data to validate your decisions. Emotions can run high when running a business, but it's important to use data to ground your decisions and keep a level head. Use data to help balance out extreme emotions and make more informed decisions.
