What's your business, and who are your customers?

The essence of Olio begins with awareness of the self. I want my products to illuminate a sense of wellness in our day and evoke a moment of productivity, inspiration, or tranquility. My brand offers a variety of wellness and beauty products to those who want to enhance their self-care routine and well-being.

Tell us about yourself

I’ve always imagined myself starting my own business. This is the ultimate challenge where my vision becomes a reality. Once I started putting my ideas on paper, I became obsessed with progressing them. I was constantly testing myself and getting out of my comfort zone. When I came to understand my unlimited capacity, I started to experience life differently. Naturally, as humans, we avoid rejection, judgment, and failure owning a business causes you to accept all of these things. I’ve taken so many lessons from my business into other aspects of my life that have changed my perspective, strengthened my character, and developed my focus.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I started with growing local support to now fulfilling orders worldwide. I’ve built close relationships with my customers and other business owners. I’ve created a space where people feel valued and inspired. My platform has become a community of like-minded, positive, and supportive individuals.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being a perfectionist. Working for companies comes with expectation, structure, and validation. When you start a business, you create everything. There is an unexplainable pressure that comes with starting a business because no one is telling you what to do or how to do it. At first, that responsibility is exactly what you want until you start making big decisions and have only yourself to validate them. Your brand is a reflection of you, and when you hold yourself to a high standard, you want everything to be perfect. Not everything goes as planned, and in the beginning, it can be overwhelming like anything new.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your research, stay organized, and plan ahead.
  2. Understand the difference between competition and comparison.
  3. It was planted in your heart for a reason, don’t be afraid to go for it.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?
