Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rochelle Einsiedel, Founder of OH Snap! By Shell Photography, located in Glendale, WI, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
OH Snap! By Shell Photography is a brand that captures Life, History, and Experiences. We specialize in smiles, always capturing your Authenticity! We help create moments! Pictures should tell a story, "if you weren't there....then you missed a great time!" No Event is truly complete without Pictures to show for it.
We create relationships with companies and individuals to become their contract in-house photographers. Our Target audience is Non-Profit. Organizations, Events Coordinators, Families, and Sporting Leagues.
Tell us about yourself
Hey..... I'm Rochelle, aka Shelly-Shell, a Freelance Photographer that specializes in candid moments and at least one guaranteed smile! Just show up as your Authentic Self, and I'll take care of the rest! My goal is to capture the TRUE YOU without you thinking too hard! The key to a great picture is to have fun and enjoy the moment; NO ONE CAN "DO YOU" LIKE YOU!
Growing up, I saw everything as a picture! All my allowance money went towards buying instant film for my Polaroid Camera. My bedroom wall consisted of nothing but images to relive Moments of Meaning! My favorites were off-guard pictures because they captured true identity as a self-proclaimed moment in time!
Marrying my High School Sweetheart and giving birth to two beautiful children gave me so much practice with my camera that it attracted potential customers inquiring about my photography. In 2021, I birthed Oh Snap! By Shell Photography with the help of my husband, who saw the passion I had for photography and thought it was time for the World to see what I had to Offer!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a Business Owner thus far was winning 1st Place in pitching my business to the African American Chamber of Commerce against ten contestants! Enrolling in the AACC RISE program was perfect for me being a first-time entrepreneur; I worked extremely hard, and I got results! I learned to grow and run my business the correct way. Although I'm still learning, I feel confident enough to stand strong with the help of my teachings!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being the only person in the business, I know I need help, but not sure how to delegate it. I'm so busy that my time is required more than I can give. I'm trying to figure out how to schedule time for myself, my family, and my business without burning myself out.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Network and use your resources; if you want to start a business that is already created, connect with others in the same business to learn. YOU WILL NEED HELP!
- No Question is dumb; ask A LOT of questions.
- Find a mentor in the same business that isn't afraid of your growth; you can't always be the smartest person in the room, be open to listening, take criticism, and take lots of notes!!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Being an entrepreneur is definitely not easy, but it's worth it if it truly is your passion. If you're in it just for the money, it will be just another job! I love what I do, so it doesn't feel like work; who knew a childhood hobby would be my dream job!!
