What's your business, and who are your customers?

At OH My Macarons, we offer you the opportunity to take you back to Paris with every bite! Our Macarons are special because the recipes and techniques have been perfected over the years to offer you fluffy, not too sweet, and flavourful macarons. We often challenge our customers to close their eyes, take a bite, and guess the flavour. In the last five years of opening this business, we have proudly been part of hundreds of celebrations and special occasions such as weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, and corporate celebrations.

Tell us about yourself

Science and baking are my two inseparable passions. Having an educational background in Biochemistry and working in research laboratories for years taught me a great deal of various lab skills that helped me build a strong foundation of baking skills.

I fell in love with French macarons on our honeymoon to Paris back in 2016. What made me more interested in them is how challenging it is to produce the perfect macaron repeatedly. It took me months of continuous baking attempts to find a robust recipe and develop the correct techniques for macaron baking. However, what truly keeps me motivated each day is offering an experience to my customers who trust me with their vision and flavour combination requests.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is the community I have built with amazing customers and fellow business owners. I have built a product line and been part of many events to promote my brand, but the best outcome of all the work has been the true connection I made with kind, talented, and wonderful human beings.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The responsibility of maintaining your products and brand. As well as the need for waking up and showing up every single day even on the days that you don't feel like it. Therefore, self-discipline is key to success.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Go for it and start today! A business doesn't have to be perfect to be worthy of the market, so do not fall for chasing the ideal image and end up delaying your start date. You can start anywhere and work your way through.
