Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health consulting and coaching, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cathy Biase Nutrition Consulting & Cancer Coaching, based in Ontario, Canada.
What's your business and who are your customers?
I specialize in the functional application of nutrition for root cause health improvement in the area of chronic disease with a focus on cancer care. The health of cancer patients is missing in most protocols and needs to be addressed so patients enhance cancer treatment efficacy, mitigate side effects and complete their care.
Tell us about yourself
I was a cancer patient myself. Alongside my medical care I also worked with integrative practitioners on my health. I completed my treatments and had minimal side effects. This was not the case for many people I spoke with who did not benefit from the same type of care I was fortunate to receive.
I saw the need to support cancer patients so I made it my goal to try and do so. After my treatments were finished I went back to school and became a nutritionist as also achieve certification as a Professional Cancer Coach.
I am honoured to work with the people who have entrusted me. Honestly I am a Cancer Coach now because I was a cancer patient before.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Moving my practice online has been challenging but rewarding. Seeing my business grow from referrals is also a wonderful accomplishment
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The work day does not end. Practical execution of business by day turns into wearing the hats of a book keeper, accountant and office manager.
What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
1. Know or determine your niche. This will help you to drill down into a very specific business with defined products and services.
2. Don't spend excessive amounts of time on social media. Give yourself an allotted amount of time per day then move on. It can be soul sucking.
3. Just do it. Everything does not have to be in place and perfect. There are endless things that can delay opening your doors. Focus on your why and get it going!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Owning a business is hard work and there is really not guarantee of success. But you will never know unless you give it a shot
