What's your business, and who are your customers?

Nutrigenix LLC started as a collaboration of urologists, biochemists, and nurse practitioners who teamed up to research the effective ingredients that had the most clinical research behind them to create something new that UTI-causing bacteria could not become resistant to. This collaboration led to the launch of UTRx®: The most potent UTI preventative, with the top 3 effective ingredients available without a prescription.

We are currently the only company in our space to have performed human clinical trials at Rutgers University using our main active ingredient and demonstrated 72x more potency than the top 5 selling UTI prevention brands head-to-head. UTRx® was created in response to the growing but silent epidemic of recurrent UTIs. UTIs are becoming more resistant to antibiotics every year, and people are running out of options. Our customers are the 1 in 4 women that will develop recurrent UTIs and no longer respond to antibiotics due to antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria.

Tell us about yourself

I was the CEO of Genesis Pharmaceuticals at the time when I met the two urologists, Dr. Peter Tek and Dr. Sandeep Sawhney, who were leading the research and development team that would eventually make the final formulation for UTRx®. We receive at least one call a week from a customer who has literally tried everything. They have been suffering from recurrent UTIs, sometimes as frequently as every other month, for ten years straight.

They almost lost all hope until they finally tried UTRx. We had one woman whose UTI had spread and caused her to go into sepsis. She has been UTI-free for almost two years now since using UTRx®. To be one of the few truly effective solutions for this silent epidemic that women over 50 are facing and literally saving lives negates the need for coffee to wake up every day!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

UTRx® has an 80% return customer rate, and our subscribers stay on for an average of 300 days. We have an average of 82% 5-star reviews as well. We have made something remarkable here, and it is so wonderful to see it helping so many!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Not sure there is enough space to type, ha! Any business owner would likely feel similar. Since I believe in what we are doing with all of my beings, I want to evangelize our product, but as CEO, I have many duties that are not as exciting or glamorous that must be done. It is hard to reel myself in to do those important but less exciting activities.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get a very good grasp on accounting, even the pennies count. If you get the pennies right, the dollars will fix themselves.
  2. Spend the extra money on a great lawyer when you incorporate your business, especially if you plan to raise capital by selling shares.
  3. Just because you see your product or marketing strategy as fantastic does not mean your target demographic will. Be dispassionate, find brilliant people in all the knowledge areas you lack, listen to those who tell you what you do not want to hear, and be ready for a rollercoaster. Sometimes it feels like every swing you take is a home run, and other days you can't get a base hit to save your life. This is par for the course, so do not let the tough days discourage you from achieving your goal!
