What's your business, and who are your customers?

NU Entertainment is a global brand development company that allows creatives from all over the world, such as dancers, choreographers, movement coaches, performing artists, artist developers, and dream chasers, to express themselves openly through the language of movement and art. As a leading development company, we’ve been able to work with and develop a list of clients such as Megan Thee Stallion, Diddy, Jordin Sparks, Rae Sremmurd, Paloma Mami, and many more.

Tell us about yourself

As a born dream chaser, I’ve always wanted to break the barriers that were placed in front of me with no hesitation. The art of moving has given me so much more than I could ask for, which is why I started NU Entertainment...to give back! Built by an icon LaurieAnn Gibson, with over a decade of experience working by her side. NU Entertainment strives for greatness with a team that not only motivates themselves but motivates the company on a daily basis. We consistently stay booked year-round, evolving and growing to reach goals that most people feel are unattainable. WE ARE THE CHANGE.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, my biggest accomplishment thus far is my longevity. The pandemic proved to many business owners that not all businesses are pandemic-proof and that not all businesses can be sustainable through hard times. However, contrary to people’s belief, the art of dance and performance art is what gets people through these times. Building and creating a company from the ground up is a huge accomplishment, but for it to be sustainable is icing on the cake!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Communication is one of the hardest things I’ve come across being a business owner. When there is a lack of communication, it allows for an entirely different narrative to permeate. When this happens, it creates a disconnect which can add tension between the team and the client. Communication is the key to a successful business, managing expectations, and awakening the little giant that lives inside all our clients. Therefore, I constantly strive to have open communication with my team and our clients.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My top three tips for any dreamer out there that is eager to start a business and sustain it would be the following:

  1. Don’t let anyone tell you “YOU CAN’T” because that is simply their insecurities about YOUR greatness.
  2. Make sure you have a solid team. Many businesses have faltered due to a lack of high-functioning teamwork.
  3. Network, network, network! Every set I’m on, every awards show, every rehearsal, we make sure to let them know NU ENTERTAINMENT is here to deliver a true process, then allowing the product to speak for itself! You are your brand, make sure you REPRESENT!
