What's your business, and who are your customers?

We help our clients market their products to their customers to increase revenue. We run public relations, SEO & Social Media programs, create websites and videos and advertise.

Tell us about yourself

In 2005, I was working as a marketing assistant to a small communications firm in Ohio that specialized in the plastics industry. My family moved to Florida, so I started my own firm with them as my first client. I get up every morning to ensure our clients get the attention from the current and potential they need to grow. I am motivated every day to do my best because I don't like it when our customers are unhappy because you did not do what you said you would do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The biggest accomplishment is pushing ourselves to learn about new options available to make our jobs easier and to offer better services to meet our customers' needs. For example, for years, many of our clients' websites were stored on a variety of servers or hosting companies. These servers tended to crash their websites often, and customers were unhappy. But at the time, this was a common occurrence, no matter the server service you chose. Then cloud hosting from AWS, Microsoft, Google, etc., became available.

We attended training on how to use these servers and ended up switching our clients' websites over to the cloud because it was cheaper and more reliable. However, these cloud options have become more costly in the past couple of years. In 2022 we continued to learn about other kinds of servers available and switched all of our clients this year over to another service that reduced our monthly server cost significantly. In 2022, we also set out to learn more about Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). In 2023, we hope to add more virtual reality and augmented reality businesses to our firm.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Staying calm during a business crisis. Remaining calm helps you think about the problem with a clear mind. Having a clear mind allows you to come up with good options to solve the problem, and you end up doing it faster than screaming or blaming others. Also, when your employees see you remain calm and come up with good solutions, they feel more confident about working for you and not someone else.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be prepared to work harder compared to everyone else and not be jealous that your employees are off spending time with family and friends, doing hobbies, etc, while you are working to keep the business going.
  2. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate...often with customers and employees. They need to know what is going on all the time.
  3. Celebrate the wins, evaluate the losses, then keep learning new things to offer customers, especially those your competitors are not offering.
