Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Natalie Szabo, Owner of NS Virtual Services, located in Morin-Heights, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

NS Virtual Services provides virtual business services to entrepreneurs and businesses ranging from general admin and customer service to social media, bookkeeping, and web development.

Tell us about yourself

As a mother of young boys, I wanted to be involved in their school life but still ensure my professional skills and experience were being put to good use. I love to help others, and if I can bring my time management, organizational skills, and strong work ethic to a business and/or person who needs them, then I am fulfilled as an entrepreneur.

NS Virtual Services arose out of this need to find that elusive work/life balance. I continue to be motivated and appreciative of this balance. I love what I do, so it's more than a "job"; it's a passion. I am eager every morning to see what it has in store for me!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Equally rewarding accomplishments are:

  1. Having team members learn and grow to a point they are able to flourish on their own;
  2. Providing excellent service so that most of our business comes from referrals.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

In the beginning, you will cover all aspects of the business, wearing many different hats - but once you are able to - it is important (but understandably hard) that you delegate some items so that you can continue to concentrate on the bigger picture.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

If you want to run your own VA Agency, then I suggest the following:

  1. Subcontract with a VA agency first, maybe several, as you learn a lot and can build your systems pulling from various techniques.
  2. Ensure you are always available for your team, providing training wherever necessary.
  3. Block off some time in your calendar for yourself - both for business as well as personal.
