What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Career Development Coach and focus on supporting those in their careers - this is for those in their first jobs, career transitions, job searching, and goal setting in their current roles. Most of my clients are from varying fields of work, demographics, and career levels.

Tell us about yourself

I have a strong background in HR for some really large established companies and small startups and found that the number one thing each company was truly lacking... proper employee coaching. The coaching I focus on can help employees be more engaged at work, perform their best at work, and feel empowered in their work. A light switch for me in focusing on working with those who were job seeking and being an interviewer seeing so many people are very unprepared to do well in that setting - I wanted to help on the other side!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Seeing my coachees and clients succeed in their goals and truly leave me feedback that comes from a place where I didn't ask - they want to offer it AND refer their friends, colleagues, and family. That, for me... is the most success I could ask for!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being alone, for me, has been the toughest part of owning my business. I have no one to bounce ideas off of. I have no one to give me feedback that isn't my direct clientele - finding a good path in that for me was setting up feedback forms for clients post working together so I can see where I need to be better and what I'm excelling at. The other side of that was finding and joining a community outside of the business to get that from, too - having a strong community full of other coaches and business owners is invaluable to me.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Get a good-looking website, get feedback/testimonials and share them, and set up analytics and SEO for your site to succeed and reach the right people.
