What's your business, and who are your customers?

Novis Mortem Collective is a Curiosity Gallery. Now you are probably wondering what that means. See? We already made you curious. Novis Mortem Collective focuses on alternative art and jewelry. We sell ethically sourced entomological taxidermy, artwork, and jewelry from local and other select artists. We try to create a welcoming environment so we can inspire you with our fun facts to look a little closer next time you see a "bug"

Tell us about yourself

I have been collecting for many years; a couple of years ago, my friend taught me how to pin insects myself. It became an obsession, and I wanted to create a platform where alternative artists like myself have the opportunity to showcase what they are passionate about. I am fascinated by how incredible nature is; sharing it with anyone that comes to Novis Mortem and seeing the same fascination on their faces is the most amazing experience.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to create a place for like-minded people and connecting with our community! I now have a platform to raise awareness of the shrinking insect population. Conservation through education.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest things for me as a business owner are, setting healthy boundaries for myself and asking for help. There is always more to do, but at the same time, you cannot do it all yourself!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in yourself, there will be hard days, but I promise if you truly love what you do, it is worth it.
  2. Find your people and let them help you; they will be your support and your cheerleaders.
  3. Give yourself credit for the hard work you put in.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

We are so grateful to be part of our Colorado Springs community and being able to be actively involved with it. We cannot wait to see how much the city will evolve.
