Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Steven Ioannou, co-founder and co-CEO of Nounós Creamery, located in West Babylon, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a family-owned and operated small-batch dairy producer. We specialize in handcrafted Greek yogurt packaged in unique glass pots. Our customers are anybody that loves Greek yogurt.

Tell us about yourself

We wanted to revive an old-school technique in crafting food. In the US, our food system is about mass production... fast and cheap. Our product is all about the process... small-batch, low temp, long time, and the result is a product like it was meant... Not a version of it. This is what motivates me.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Starting our company from zero and taking it to its current level is always a good feeling. Also, having our brand sold across the country is very rewarding.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The unknown... Always having that sense of uncertainty in your head is hard. Nothing is guaranteed; nothing lasts forever, and what hurdle will I need to overcome today.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Take it slowly, do it right the first time. Don't compare; every business is different, even if it's in the same category. And finally, don't forget to reflect on each day's achievements.
