Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jon Snedeker, owner of Notary Signing Agent Blueprint, located in St. Petersburg, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We help others start and grow their Notary Signing Agent business so they can become their own boss, create their own schedule, and finally make more money. Anytime someone buys a home, sells a home, refinances, or does any type of real estate transaction, you meet with a Notary Signing Agent so they can notarize your documents. Each closing typically pays $75-$200 and usually takes about 30-45 minutes once you're trained. NSA Blueprint provides the training, certification, and mentorship to help people make it happen full-time, part-time, or anytime. I was named "One of the best Signing Agents in America," and he lets others use his proven systems to start and grow their businesses. Our customers are anyone in America over the age of 18, who is looking to make more, become their own boss, and is open to serving the community they live in.
Tell us about yourself
I started doing loan signings as a Notary Signing Agent back in 2008 to supplement my income after my day job at a bank. Eventually, I noticed that I was making more in 30 minutes sitting with someone to sign and notarize their paperwork (working for myself) than I was making in 8-10 hours in my low hourly rate full-time job (working for someone else). I realized that if I could just get enough loan signings consistently to do this full-time, I would free up another 8 hours a day for more loan signings by quitting my job. It was a pretty smooth transition, and I was off to the races. Fast forward to today, and I've performed about 10,000 loan closings in multiple states and own two companies in the loan signing industry. What motivates me everyday? I love helping others finally break free from corporate and help them work on their own dream instead of their bosses' dream everyday.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
To date, we've trained and served over 122,000+ people through our online training, free webinars, and mentorship. I'm very proud of that, and I never thought I could help so many others start and grow their business. I still get excited every time when I see our team/students celebrate some of their milestones in our private team community. Things they typically celebrate would be either making a certain amount per day or per month, getting new clients, or using new strategies to grow their business, etc.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing for business owners is time management. We all have the same 24 hours each day, and how we spend those precious minutes makes all the difference. I find people really waste time on things that don't really matter at all and really don't know how to spend their time wisely to maximize what they want to accomplish with their business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Learn to work harder on yourself than you do at your job/business.
- Find someone who is already exactly where you want to be, and connect with them. Pick up the clues, learn from them, ask why they do things that way, and if you can, model their behavior to fast-track your success.
- Find great people to help you achieve what it is that you want to achieve with your business. No one does it 'alone.'
