Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tomo Delaney, founder, and CEO of Noshi LLC, located in New York City, NY, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We make edible organic Food Paint™ for kids: tubes of different-colored fruit puree that kids can paint on their food and then eat. More fun and has less sugar than syrup! Next up, we're launching Sketchup™ - tubes of organic ketchup for kids to draw on their food.
Tell us about yourself
After working in the fashion industry, I became a stay-at-home dad to two very picky eaters. I wanted to find a way of making mealtimes more fun for kids. The solution was Food Paint - and kids LOVE it.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Getting our product into Walmart. We've been working with them for three and a half years, and they're just great. There's a reason they're so successful.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a start-up owner, especially one selling into a national chain like Walmart, it's a one-word answer: funding!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be patient.
- Believe in your product - you have to sell it every day, and you need to love it. People will know if you don't.
- Lose all shame in asking people for money. You'll need a lot of it, and you have to get comfortable asking for it.
