Do Not Let Tech Jargon Stop You - Non-Developers
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Zeeshan Syed, Founder of Non-Developers, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My company is called Non-Developers. I have an online course called Tech Talk for Non-Developers, where I teach Product Managers the technical jargon that developers regularly use so they can work more effectively with them.
Tell us about yourself
I started this business because I saw my non-technical peers struggle to understand what developers were saying. At one particular moment, I had a colleague who was overwhelmed with the technical jargon we were using in a meeting. So I spent 30 minutes explaining what we were talking about using illustrations, and one thing led to another from there. Knowing that people wish they had found my content and course material years ago is what motivates me every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Right now, I have over 400 Product Managers, Program Managers, and others taking my course. I also have 5 companies using my course as part of their onboarding process. At the same time, I've helped people land roles at large tech companies.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Constantly staying on your toes, systemizing everything, and also making time for yourself.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find ways to automate your work.
- You don't have to do it alone; there are people on Fiverr and Upwork who can help.
