What's your business, and who are your customers?

Tell us about yourself
After giving birth to my daughter, the months of intense stress on my body began taking its toll on my hair. I was experiencing shedding, split ends, dull, dry hair, and for the first time in my life - bald spots. During a trip to Honduras, I kept hearing about a local product called Batana Oil that was said to be a miracle for hair loss and troubled skin. It was purported to treat damaged hair by promoting new growth, reversing hair loss, and stopping breakage. I was skeptical but desperate to find a solution, so I tried it, and to say that I was surprised by the results would be an understatement. My hair began feeling softer and healthier, the shedding subsided, and I began noticing new hair growth. I'm motivated by helping women battle postpartum hair loss, by helping everyone have better hair every day, and by doing what I can to promote less plastic on our planet!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Helping to support local female artisans in my home country of Guatemala by teaching them how to start and run their own businesses.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Juggling a healthy work-life balance can be challenging, especially with children. I'm lucky to have help, but I still occasionally feel guilty that so much of my free time is spent managing my business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be educated and informed! Plan properly and be prepared for the unexpected. Things shift and change constantly, and you have to have the ability to pivot and problem-solve. Knowing how to communicate with others during stressful situations is a must in order to help your team thrive and work together to achieve your vision and your goals.
