Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jimmy Feeman, founder of NoBaked Cookie Dough, located in Nashville, TN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Founded in 2017, NoBaked Cookie Dough is a dessert company that makes safe to eat cookie dough with the mission of making food that is chef driven, not lab driven. Our number one core value is flavor first and we strive to make our products achieve that. We're a true omni channel consumer brand and operate 4 scoop shops, sell direct to consumers online, through traditional grocery stores and to other wholesale customers.

Tell us about yourself

After my now wife, then girlfriend, Megan started doing pop ups she got me involved to help make cookie dough to prep for events. I quit my "real job" 4 months after the business started and never looked back. I was motivated to jump all the way in back then and now by my deep desire to be an entrepreneur and not have limits on what I can and cannot accomplish. Entrepreneurship allows you to shape the world around you and structure your life and business the way you want and I was, and still am attracted to that.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been inspiring other younger entrepreneurs to start their own food businesses. Revenue and store counts are cool but they lack a lot of meaning. The coolest thing we've been able to do is to inspire and hopefully also get our mission out there which is to make more packaged food chef driven, not lab driven.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Keeping your head in the present moment to tackle the operational, sales, and financial challenges of making it through the next week, while still keeping your mission, values, and goals in mind with every decision you make. It's a dichotomy where you're balancing the here and now with where you want to go. Allocating resources, choosing to take chances, and making operational decisions are usually very different if you choose to focus on the future or the present but you have to keep both in mind.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Stop thinking and start doing. The second is to stop trying to compare yourself to others or copy their path. The third is to always be learning and networking. No one has all the answers or ever will so half of the battle is constantly searching for the right answers.'
