What's your business, and who are your customers?

Code Story is a podcast featuring founders, tech leaders, CTOs, CEOs, and software architects, reflecting on their human stories in creating world-changing, disruptive digital products.

Tell us about yourself

Code Story is a passion project created from conversations I was having with other CTOs about the journeys they went through as humans to build amazing solutions. Ultimately, I wanted to record these conversations and mimic How I Built This with Guy Raz. As for me, I'm a startup founder, CTO, podcast Host, software architect, husband, father, and Jesus follower. I'm passionate about solution architecture. I've held several leadership roles and gained valuable insights into how to deliver world-class software. The sweet spot for me is creating solutions that impact people's lives and doing so by applying elegant dev practices and methodologies and building world-class teams. When I'm not being a geek or reading old calculus books, I can be found chasing after my beautiful bride, being chased by my kids, enjoying a good cup of joe, playing my guitar(s), or being outdoors.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is creating three wonderful kids with my beautiful wife. Also, I've been successful in building multiple companies - from agencies to tech product startups to podcasts. I feel accomplished in doing that.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The most difficult thing is there is no floor. IE, there is no safety net to catch you at any time. You are on your own! This is also the most exciting and rewarding, as there is no ceiling either.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Start now. Don't wait; just start now. There are so many resources at your disposal today, and there is no reason not to start. Find a good co-founder, listen & learn, and get started right away.
