What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a woman-owned homemade scented candle-making business. We are a small business with products made right here in the United States. Our candles are smooth burning with a great scent throw. We offer 25 different scents to suit all preferences. We have made it our mission to grab a large demographic of all income types. We are affordable, and we are not chasing massive profit margins. We just want our customers to be able to buy candles without hurting their wallets.

Tell us about yourself

I have been a candle lover for over 30 years. I have burned candles from most companies but noticed large price hikes in the past few years. My business partner and I decided to try our hand at making them ourselves, and we became addicted to it. It’s our passion, and we devote every day to our customers' feedback, so we continue to improve. Our customers' loyalty keeps us motivated. In fact, our customer requests for a wax Melts line are the very reason we now sell wax melts. They speak, we listen! It’s as simple as that.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Learning both the business side as well as the manufacturing side. It’s been a real process, but we get better and better each day.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Getting noticed! Branding your business. It’s difficult in this industry because of the many veteran companies that also make candles. But we’re not going anywhere.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Get advice, and learn about your targeted audience. Get a marketing professional.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

If you have a passion, follow it. Don’t give up. Starting a business is hard; if it were easy, everyone would do it. Stick to it.
