Find Your Purpose - Nicole Spracale

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nicole Spracale, Executive Coach and Fractional COO/CoS of Nicole Spracale Coaching & Consulting, located in Tempe, AZ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a business coach and consultant who works primarily with fast-growing companies looking to scale, typically in the tech space or professional services. I either work one-on-one with the CEO/founder as an executive coach or come into the business as a fractional leader, often in the role of COO.

Tell us about yourself

I spent the early part of my career as an executive people leader. I was fortunate to have a CEO who challenged me to take on non-traditional projects around sales leadership, new market expansion, and the like. When I left corporate, I decided to follow my passion for working in early-stage startups, helping leaders scale and grow their business processes and people, and I never looked back. I love the intersection of purpose, people, and process. I am super motivated by my work being different every day and the incredibly passionate and driven people I’m blessed to work along aside.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think it is the success I’ve been able to help my clients achieve. I’m only as good as the work I enable others to do. My role is to bring out the best in my clients, personally and professionally. When they hit their goals, it is unbelievably rewarding. I always look for ways to improve and hope my best accomplishments remain ahead.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

It can be lonely and even scary at times. My clients trust me to guide them to the best outcomes, and sometimes I don’t know what I don’t know. Failure is part of business, and knowing I will fall short as an individual and for my client is a bitter pill to swallow.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, build a network of trusted partners in the areas of expertise you are the least comfortable with and learn how to lean into others for advice. There is never shame in asking for help.

Second, learn to say no to work that you can’t do (talent-wise) or won’t be able to accomplish within the deadline requested. While it hurts to walk away from a job, it is worse to underdeliver and tarnish your reputation.

Finally, remember to be your own client first and be good to yourself. You really can’t replace yourself as an employee, so watch your physical, financial, and emotional health at all times so that your business can be sustained.
