What's your business, and who are your customers?

Serenity Wellness and Counseling Center is an award-winning holistic wellness center dedicated to helping our clients achieve long-lasting results beyond just talk therapy. Utilizing the power of the brain, our goal is to teach you skills you can use in your daily life – so you can feel empowered to take on life’s challenges, grow, and rebuild.

Our customers are looking for support for the entire mind and body. We provide one-on-one counseling, consultations with a dietitian, neurofeedback for stuck brain patterns, pain management and healthy habits, meditation/yoga, evidence-based practices that go beyond just talk therapy, and a prescriber for medication management.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Providing my staff with opportunities to better serve the communities through paid training and continuing education opportunities. Having the ability to give the staff fun team-building activities and supporting their passion for helping others. Their success is what helps me feel accomplished.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Time management and making sure one is taking care of their own personal self-care. Learning how to “turn off” work and taking personal time to recharge.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get a mentor in your field. Learn from others' mistakes. Expect to make your own mistakes but take them as a learning curve.
  2. Treat your employees how you want to be treated. “Customers will never love a company until the employees love it first.”
  3. “Create raving fans” through excellent customer service.
