Agribusiness Redefined - NGF Global

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in agriculture but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Edwin Richardson, CEO, and Chairman of NGF Global, located in Navarre, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are NGF Global... Maximizing Agriculture Profitability through Smart Agribusiness. We are fixing the food supply chain and, at the same time combating world hunger.

Tell us about yourself

I've traveled the world and typically not always the most popular vacation spots. I was fortunate enough to see what much of the world relies on when it comes to accessing Clea, healthy, and safe foods. Much of the world I experienced does not have access and is very underdeveloped without connecting to the parts of the world, industry experts, and organizations for those clean, healthy, and safe foods. Fast forward, I am retired from the Air Force, involved with my first company, and very engaged with my team. A client project led to the sale of my first company and the licensing of my current company, NGF Global. Taking on the challenges of the global food supply chain. Food Safety, Food Security, and Agriculture Sustainability. We have created things this industry has never seen accomplished. Producers can reach new markets while taking ownership of their own data and marketing their own harvests. Various Buyers throughout the food supply chain can engage directly with the farmer and negotiate their own business transactions. The level of traceability and transparency is unmatched and supported with our other 2 added components, Continuity and Accountability. The world of Agribusiness has now changed, and we are doing it on a global scale.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is our team and customer base. Every company experiences this anyone can almost be good enough to do the job... Many can even be more than qualified... But, finding the RIGHT people is the challenge and key to success. I strongly feel when it is in your early development phase, that goes for both your team and customer.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

This can be a long list for many. I am not sure I can or should say this or that for anyone else..... But, as a business owner, time management is a big challenge. This is for many reasons, too. Many young business owners have a problem allowing emotions to have a say in your direction or decision-making. Luckily for me, I had remarkable people around me to rely on when faced with challenges or when business got hard.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Lol, only 3...Let's see...….

Know your market and customer. These are 2 very different things, and it can be easy for people to get these 2 confused. Don't be afraid to say, No. The bright shiny object is not always what's best for you right now. Allow your team the opportunity to experience obstacles. This is such a huge contributor to your company's growth.
