What's your business, and who are your customers?
We help people create happy and fulfilling lives after their careers. Our customers are financial advisors and their retiring clients.
Tell us about yourself
When I was preparing to retire from the corporate world as I was turning 65, I knew I needed to retire to something. I decided I wanted to help people have happy and healthy relationships, so I earned my certification as a Relationship Coach. As I was working with couples, I heard so many say that they used to have good relationships, but now they were bickering and fighting. The common denominator was that most of them had recently retired. So I earned a second certification as a Retirement Coach. My reason for getting up in the morning is to watch people come alive as they begin to envision their new life in "retirement" and design what it will be like every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Changing people's lives.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Having to wear so many hats. I solved that by finding a partner whose strengths are my weaknesses and having a strategic assistant who enjoys doing the times neither my partner nor I like to do.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be sure your business is doing something you really love.
- Have a solid business plan.
- Find a way to outsource the things you don't do well.
