What's your business, and who are your customers?
Newsly is audio content and a personal newscaster mobile application. It picks up top trending web articles about your chosen topics and then reads them to you in a natural human voice using AI technology. You can create your audio feed based on keywords as specific as you like. We also have all the podcasts and all the digital radio, so you can combine them with topical audio articles. It is a one-stop-shop audio super-app.
Tell us about yourself
I was trying to improve my English but didn't want to listen to the radio. I just wanted to listen to topics I care about and are happening right now. Despite the excellent level of text-to-speech technology, I could not find an app that uses it in the simple way that I wanted. Seeing how many people open and use the app every day motivates me. And it all started as a simple idea I had in my head. It is my constant goal to make it better for them.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Ranking the mobile app #1 on the USA App store and Play Store when you search "Listen To News." Also, when Newsly was chosen on the list of top 15 consumer applications in Canada by Beststartup.ca.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Finding good people who share the same vision as the company. The process takes a lot of time and effort. Once you find such a person, it's worth it.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Focus on the goal. Don't get distracted.
- Make sure you have a supporting family and friends on your way.
- Listen to everyone's advice. In the end, you choose what to act on.
