State-of-the-Art Solutions - New England Low-T Center

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health & wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anthony DaCunha, Founder of New England Low-T Center, located in Fairfield, CT, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business is to provide the highest levels of care to men and women experiencing hormone decline symptoms. Our male and female customers range in age from mid-twenties to late '60s. These men and women have tried eating healthy and working out and still do not feel optimal. They come to us to help them live their best life.

Tell us about yourself

As a 50-year-old medical professional, I have had a passion for health, wellness, and fitness my entire life. Around 44, I noticed my energy level had dropped, weights went down in the gym, my libido changed for the worse, and I could not lose belly and lower back fat no matter how hard I tried.

I had my bloodwork drawn and was diagnosed with hypogonadism or low testosterone. I tried several clinics to help me optimize my health and found their services and level of care were lacking. I was either paying an exorbitant monthly membership fee and then paying for my script at the local pharmacy or begging the clinic to write me a prescription for maintenance bloodwork to ensure I was in good health. I never felt that these clinics were in it for my best health.

I knew that I could not be the only customer feeling this way. At that point, developing a center that did things the right way and putting the patient's best interest first and foremost became my passion.

We take great pride in helping patients with poor experiences, whether it be a cookie-cutter protocol that did not work or the patient feeling like a number and not a person. We also take great pride in helping complex cases find symptom resolution and live healthy lives.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment would be the satisfaction of having a patient tell us that we changed their life for the better and that we listened when other doctors gave up and helped them find symptom resolution. I know what it was like to feel frustrated with my level of care and wish I could have found a clinic with a passion for my happiness like our clinic has for our patients.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The day to day of compliance, government regulations, and coordinating daily activities while planning for future commitments can be extremely stressful.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Research, Research, Research.
  2. Create your to-do lists (monthly, weekly and daily).
  3. Put in the effort and time to be the absolute best or pick another field. If you have a passion for your work, your customers will quickly realize that and greatly appreciate it.
