Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kniche Clark, founder and owner of New Beginnings Leadership Coaching, located in Lawrenceville, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a certified speaker, coach, and trainer of the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team. I provide one-on-one coaching and online training courses that help leaders accomplish their business goals without sacrificing time for family or themselves.

I also work with leaders who feel stuck and looking for help in moving to the next level in their personal lives and careers. There is a lot of change going on, and many leaders/managers feel frustrated. They feel stuck in the daily grind at work and simply react to the overwhelming number of requests coming at them rather than being able to be intentional with their work and their team and add real value to their organization.

Other leaders feel like they are at crossroads, feeling like something is missing, and are ready to make that next turn but don't know where to start. I help these leaders get clarity of vision and their priorities, identify the actions they need to change their situation, and then help them be accountable for taking those actions.

Tell us about yourself

Before starting my business in 2021, I had spent my entire career in the corporate world. I've held several leadership positions related to professional services, program management, and operations. During my career, I realized I had a real passion for coaching and mentoring others to help them become better leaders - whether they needed help with leading themselves or leading their teams.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been able to help my clients successfully make the changes in their lives that they desired. I have one client who was feeling stuck in her career. I was able to help her gain clarity on what she wanted to do next and then take the necessary actions to find the right opportunity. There were also some things in her personal life that she had wanted to change. I was able to help her set time-bound goals and then stay motivated to accomplish them.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I am still in the early stages of my business, which means I have to wear all hats - finance, marketing, sales, operations, delivery, etc. This can be tough because you spend most of your time managing the business rather than actually doing what you went into business for. This is why it's so important to be clear on your Why, as that is what keeps you motivated.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be clear on your Why - why are you starting this business? What value are you looking to provide, and why is that important?
  2. Spend the first 30-60 days researching your target audience.
  3. Be patient and kind to yourself. If you have never started a business before, there is so much that you don't know, and you are going to make mistakes. Things are not always going to go the way you think they will. Just get back up, dust yourself, and keep moving forward.
