Train Your Body, Change Your Brain - NeuroFit BC

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Naomi Casiro, Founder of NeuroFit BC Ltd., located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

NeuroFit BC is a Parkinson's and Stroke-specific Physiotherapy clinic with locations in both Vancouver and Victoria, BC.

Tell us about yourself

I started working with the Parkinson's community early on as a physiotherapist and realized immediately how the effects of exercise could positively impact and change the lives of those living with the condition. From there, I was hooked and have worked since to fill a gap in treatment offerings for Parkinson's patients. I love giving my clients the detailed Parkinson's specific assessments and education they need to combat the disease and watching them challenge themselves physically in ways they didn't think were possible.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Providing life-changing services to clients that weren't available prior to the presence of the NeuroFit BC clinics. I also run a course for health professionals which has taught practitioners across Canada how to treat Parkinson's through specific exercises. I believe educating health professionals in this area is integral to positively affecting the lives of those living with PD across the country.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balance is always tricky; there are many things I would like to do and ambitions I have from a business perspective, but family is also incredibly important, and finding a way to balance and enjoy both takes planning and practice. Finding mentors in a very niche field is also incredibly difficult, and mentorship is so important in continued growth and success both personally and professionally.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find something you are passionate about.
  2. Look into the market to make sure it is needed.
  3. Find mentors wherever possible.
