Strategies for Healing - Neuro-Optimization
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amanda Chan, Founder of Neuro-Optimization, located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help guide people through their healing journey through personalized tools and strategies. People I work with tend to have long term chronic illnesses and:
- Feel stuck in some aspect of their healing.
- Get better only to fall back into old patterns where symptoms return.
- Are searching for their next level in life or healing.
Tell us about yourself
I am originally trained as a chiropractor. However, I take a non-traditional approach to healing. I focus on physical, emotional, and mental tension patterns found in the body and help people release their stress. I became passionate about my work when I developed an autoimmune disease.
When I was able to get it into remission through natural healing strategies, I knew I wanted to help other people do the same. My purpose in life is to help guide others on their healing journey. It has been my passion for the past 15 years, and I continually add new tools to my toolkit.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have two children and took maternity leave for each child. I also create my own hours that fit my family schedule. I've most proud of rebuilding my business when I came back from leave and being able to spend quality time with my family.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Instability can make it difficult to plan. I had to close my office at one point during the pandemic and had to pivot online quickly. A business owner is also juggling many plates at once. I find it difficult to juggle home and business plates as a mother.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Follow your desire. If you are inspired and passionate about what you do, go for it.
- Invest in your own personal growth. Your business will grow in proportion to how you grow.
- Build a community of mentors and supporters around you. Entrepreneurship can, at times, be lonely, and you have to have people to talk to that have gone through what you are going through.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
You were born worthy. Nothing has changed.
