The Decentralized Dude - Neil Haque
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Neil Haque, Founder of The Decentralized Dude, located in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I educate folks on the origins of blockchain and how they can successfully invest in cryptocurrency. My educational products suit people who are new to the space, have dabbled a bit, or are looking to further their knowledge. The courses have been designed for anyone wanting to learn about crypto (without the hype) and why financial institutions and multinational corporations worldwide are adopting the new technology. My customers primarily consist of millennial male professionals looking to understand crypto and blockchain at a fundamental level while adding another asset class to their overall investment portfolio.
Tell us about yourself
I've been educating myself on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology for the last 5 years. After securing a life-changing portfolio from investing in crypto, I re-invested some profits into an entrepreneurial mentorship. Networking and making friends with other entrepreneurs gave me the confidence to create my first educational product. I realized that my unique experience and specialized knowledge could also help others achieve their financial goals.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I got my cryptocurrency knowledge and experience to a place where I was asked to present on Defi (Decentralized Finance) and other cryptocurrency concepts to a room of 100 people. A few people who listened to that presentation wanted further guidance on investing in crypto, leading me to mentor them. They became a catalyst for the creation of my business.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Evolving your skillset related to your business. I'm good at speaking on my area of expertise but was unfamiliar with developing the necessary skills in sales and marketing, social media, and creating a system to reach clients. Learning a little more each day has compounded, and I've been able to piece together how all of these skills work in tandem with building my business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If there is a topic or interest that you are always up-to-date on or cannot stop talking about, you're most likely considered above-average in knowledge to the layperson. It's a solid place to start a business.
- Set a definite deadline on how many products will be sold or how many times your services will be purchased. Ask yourself, "How can I reach my goal by this date?" this will get your mind working on how to actualize it.
- Seek mentorship from other business owners who are within your niche. Being around others who have achieved what you're trying to accomplish at a higher stage can spark the idea or motivation needed to start your business or take your business further.
