Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Navneet Mann, Motivational Coach based in Burnbay, BC, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a business coach for unfulfilled career professionals. I work with people that are unhappy in their 9-5 jobs and want to work for themselves instead. I help them start a business that is aligned with their existing skills, interests, values, passions, and purpose - so they can do work they love while making an impact, and having ultimate freedom over their time, energy, and finances.
Tell us about yourself
I am a former lawyer who left law last year after burning out and being extremely miserable and stressed in my job. I started coaching while practicing law 4 years ago, as I wanted to do something more fulfilling and meaningful. I eventually realized that I could help more people in a deeper way through coaching than I ever could as a lawyer. Leaving law was the scariest and most empowering thing I've ever done, and it has given me the opportunity to walk my talk and teach my clients how they, too, can create an aligned business that allows them to leave their soul-sucking jobs. What motivates me is having the opportunity to do work I love every day. I get to help people create their dream life from scratch, realizing that literally, anything is possible for them
I strongly stand against society's rules of success: get an education, work hard, move up the corporate ladder, grind it out until you retire, then you can enjoy your life. I don't think that model leaves any room for individuality, alignment, or true happiness and fulfillment. I think everyone in the world has something special to offer, a way in which they can help others, and I am on a mission to help them find their unique gifts and turn those into a business that can help improve the lives of other people!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
In 2022 I tripled my business salary from 2021 :) Also, I have developed an incredible program (the Freedom Bridge Program) that helps bridge the gap between one's unfulfilling career and their purpose-driven business. It includes a proven process that will help folks start and grow businesses that are aligned, unique, and lucrative!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being a solopreneur can be isolating at times. When you're first getting started, you're figuring a lot of stuff out on your own. That's the way it's really important to establish a network of peers that understand what you're going through.
Investing in masterminds and coaching programs has not only helped me condense the timelines in which I have achieved success in my business but has also introduced me to some of my best friends in the business - folks that are in the same shoes as me, and we support one another and grow together!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know the specific problem you're solving for your clients and provide a unique solution that only you can deliver.
- Don't overthink or get into analysis paralysis. Take the first step and then the next - don't worry about something that is ten steps away.
- Your first iteration of something will not be your last - instead of worrying about getting it perfect (whether that's your program, course, or piece of content), just get it out there and test it to see what works.
