Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jennifer Woodruff, owner and creator of Naturally Made With Love, LLC., located in Lithonia, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Handmade, plant-based skincare, beard care, and facial products. My customers are anyone who is conscious about the ingredients being used on their skin and looking to purchase products without chemicals. Also, anyone who appreciates handmade products.

Tell us about yourself

I started making my own products because my son had eczema, and I was looking to find natural solutions. He was prescribed steroid creams, but I didn't want that to become a long-term solution. I began searching for plant-based oils and butters and creating recipes that helped to manage his eczema. I then began sharing my body butters with friends and family and eventually started my business. The results and motivation from my customers are what motivates me every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say my biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being able to show my son how to run a business and the importance of having multiple sources of income.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, the hardest part is running the business. Making the products is easy, but things like marketing/social media management, website design, and accounting/taxes are not. Those are the hardest things for me.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't overthink. Just get started.
  2. Don't give up.
  3. Make sure your website is professional and user-friendly.
