What's your business, and who are your customers?
Natural Radiant Life is a clean, organic, and vegan skincare line. We harness the power of 100% whole-food ingredients to replace toxic chemicals in skincare and slow down the visible signs of aging for Women of Color. Our products are "nutrition for your skin."
Tell us about yourself
I have been a bit of an entrepreneur since I was a kid. I sold candy and made clothes to make extra money, so I think I was destined to do this work. After getting my MBA and working five years in the corporate arena, I found myself unfulfilled and left my corporate job to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors. Several months later, I was introduced to a direct sales company in October 2001. I spent eight years in this company, earning the company's highest title - National Vice President and led a team of over 3,000 independent distributors generating annual revenues of over $3M. It was during this time that I fell in love with the skincare industry.
Now, as CEO of Natural Radiant Life, a vegan, clean, and organic skincare company, I get to live out my dream once again by owning my own business and working with two good friends. I wake up each day knowing that I am doing my part to bring clean beauty to a demographic that has traditionally been underserved in this space.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I think one of my biggest accomplishments to date is having the bravery to launch a business during a worldwide pandemic in 2020 and talking two of my dearest friends into going on this journey with me. Secondly, it is watching Natural Radiant Life hit its second anniversary with a complete brand re-launch. The approval rate since our rebrand has been nothing short of amazing.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a small business owner, one of the hardest things is getting access to the capital to do all the BIG dreams you have for your business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know your "why" for running your business because there will be days it will be what you hang your hat on.
- Work on your personal development to be the best business owner you can be.
- 3 Self-Care is critical. Take time to decompress so you can show up refreshed.
