Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Thomas Caddy, Master Sales Trainer of National Marketing Associates, located in Portland, OR, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I sell training programs for sales and personal change.
Tell us about yourself
I first got started in my business in 1983. I had a partner who was unethical, so I branched out on my own. Not knowing how to sell, I studied books and tapes to get better. I remember closing a sales training deal for over 5,000.00 in the first month, and that keeps me going. With over 40 years in the business, I enjoy helping my students make more sales and appointments and achieve their goals and dreams.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Helping my students reach their dreams.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Prospecting for the right people. Always be prospecting and dealing with unqualified people.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Haven a written plan and follow it. Always be prospecting, seek out successful people, and find out how they do it. Always improve your beliefs and upgrade your plans. Get contracts signed before starting work.
