Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health & fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Natillie Brandenburg, Co-Owner of True 180 Personal Training for Women, located in Charlotte, NC, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am co-owner of True 180 Personal Training for Women. The women who come to us either work out, have never worked out, or are used to workout and want to have accountability and safe and effective training sessions. Most of our clients prefer our studio over a traditional gym setting. The average age of our clients is 53 years old.
Tell us about yourself
I have been in the fitness industry for over 13 years. I started out leading yoga classes while in grad school. Little by little, my now husband started asking me to help him with customer service in his training business... fast forward, we became business partners, and I became a personal training coach.
I knew I wanted to have my own business, and I knew I wanted to help people. My partnership with my husband helped me to do both! While I no longer coach, I oversee our marketing and customer service for over 130 clients. Assisting women to change their lives by getting and staying healthy motivates me daily!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is getting to help women change their lives by getting and staying healthy and strong. Also, being able to successfully employ someone else and support a family is fantastic too!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is being able to turn off thinking about your business. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I am always working on making sure we are successful, helping the most women, and making sure we are providing the best possible experience for our clients.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Three tips I'd give to anyone looking to start, run, and grow a business include:
- Stay open-minded. Realize you don't know what you don't know.
- Look at other businesses to learn how to improve your business. This helps you see the forest, not just the tree in front of you.
- Have a support system - this is a challenging path.
