What's your business, and who are your customers?
AD BEAUTY & HAIR™ was opened online in 2018. We are a boutique beauty supply store with products and services for everyone. We have haircare, skincare, nail care, health & wellness, and accessories, and we exclusively carry A. Simone Kids Couture, which is my daughter's clothing line. We also offer services like makeup, ear piercing, loc maintenance, hair sprinkles, and beauty supply vending machine placement at the location of your choice.
Additionally, we are the creators of For the Culture Small Business Saturdays, where we allow new business owners without a storefront to come into our shop and do a pop-up shop so they can introduce their product or service to the community.
Tell us about yourself
As a serial entrepreneur, I operate several businesses, a non-profit, I am a published author, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Stonecrest Chamber of Commerce, and serve as an Ambassador for the Rockdale Conyers Chamber of Commerce.
I am the owner of Thomas Williams Management, a property management & facility maintenance company based out of Stonecrest, GA. AD Beauty & Hair, a beauty and hair supply boutique based out of Conyers, GA, and the Founder of Cameron's Angels Foundation, where we focus on women entrepreneur mentorship, self-worth building, the gift of sisterhood, and accountability. My goal is to create a legacy for my children's children, create jobs in my community, and assist new entrepreneurs on their journey. My mission is simple - to keep our dollars circulating in our community and to be a part of restoring black economics. Creating a foundation that my children can build off when they are older and helping other women in business is what motivates me every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Entrepreneurship can be incredibly challenging, and many people are not equipped to take on this lifestyle, so I would say that my biggest accomplishment is getting started and believing in myself. Additionally, I would like to say giving back to a community that has helped me build my businesses is also one of my biggest accomplishments.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things I have had to learn as a business owner is that I must trust others because I cannot do it all myself. My businesses are my babies, and no one feels like anyone else can take care of their babies better than them. But stepping back and hiring a team that I trust, that is dependable, and that I can delegate to, hiring a coach to help me scale my businesses to the next level to be more than just a "small business" has been a huge part of how I am able to operate several businesses successfully.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My top three tips would be to invest in yourself by taking trainings or getting a coach to educate yourself in building a solid business. If you cannot afford either of these, become an expert in your industry by studying so that people trust you and want to do business with you, and then once you have the income to do so, go back and hire that coach. Next, I would say ensuring that your business foundation is set up - EIN, LLC, Business Plan, Business Bank Account, Business Credit, CRM system, etc. Finally, I would say knowing who your target market is and how to reach them.

AD BEAUTY & HAIR™ store front Anniversary is coming up on June 18, 2022, from 1 pm - 4 pm at 1410 Klondike Road, Suite H, Conyers, GA 30094. This is a free event open to the public, so come out and celebrate with us. We will have impressive vendors (food, candles, jewelry, and more), and my non-profit will be giving away FREE bookbags and school supplies.
